Ynja Mist Aradóttir moved from Iceland to Denmark in January 2017 to study at the University in Copenhagen. But, as is often the case, life had other plans. By the end of the year, Ynja instead became the CEO of her own cake shop.
It all started when an opportunity arose to invest in the remaining assets of a shop that was about to close. Despite the fact that Ynja could neither understand nor speak Danish, she began to explore the possibilities of starting a shop of her own. Within two months she signed a lease on a seventy-five square meter space at Amager Boulevard in Copenhagen and together with help from her family her vision became a reality. With some hands-on experience working in a bakery in Iceland, she felt confident that with a little help, she could create a business of her own. Her mother, father, and brother arrived in Copenhagen from Iceland ready to assist. Her mother started by obtaining a small business loan while her father and brother started construction on the interior of her new space. With combined efforts Bake My Day was officially opened in March of 2018. A happy day for the entire family.
Today the shop is in a much larger space located at Amagerfælledvej 162. The shop has seating space to enjoy a coffee and cake with a friend or a group. Ynja and her team now offer cake decorating classes both for individuals and groups. Companies have utilized this class as a team building event while smaller groups gather for celebratory events for weddings (hen parties), birthdays and other milestones.
On April 18th, 2024 Ynja celebrated the grand opening of a second Bake My Day shop at Fisketorvet Mall in Copenhagen at their new food pavilion - Kajen.
Ynja's story is a testament to how passion combined with hard work creates success. And in her case, the added element of starting a new life in a new country makes it all that much more impressive.
Bake My Day consists of a highly skilled and creative team. They are proud to have delivered cakes to many of Denmark's largest companies and are now highlighted on Trip Advisor with the most amazing reviews.
In just a few short years, Bake My Day has become part of Copenhagen's largest wedding cake supplier known for its high quality and artistic expression.
