Iceland Here and Abroad is proud to announce a new addition to our website. Fine Fellows is a boutique jewelry store that was inspired by owner and founder, Constanze's, love of Icelandic horses. Constanze works in her shop in Amsterdam, Netherlands and sells and distributes her fine handmade jewelry worldwide through her online platforms linked below. Fine Fellows specializes in jewelry representing Iceland's horses both for the rider and bridle jewelry for the horse.
For Constanze, the story began in the 1990's. She has had a great love for horses and jewelry for as long as she can remember. At the age of nine she was making brooches and hair ornaments from polymer clay molded into the image of the Icelandic horses that she was riding at Berlar Stable in Germany.
As a child she, along with her mother, stopped at every jewelry store they passed in search of that special jewelry piece resembling the Icelandic horse - the internet did not yet exist. Realizing the pendant of her beloved Icelandic horse was nowhere to be found, she took it upon herself while just a teen, to get the job done. And, with the help of a local goldsmith, she succeeded. The clay pieces she had made previously were now professionally made pieces of jewelry. Constanze delicately cut the model out of wax and the goldsmith would cast it in silver thus a pendant of Kjarni, her favorite beloved Icelandic horse was born with additional pieces to follow.
As her love of jewelry making grew she decided to study goldsmithing. After her education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in jewelry design and receiving technical training as a goldsmith in Germany - she founded the label Fine Fellows. The collection has continued to grow ever since, inspired in large part by Fine Fellows customers.
Constanze stresses that what is always in focus when designing and making the jewelry is the idea of translating the love for our beautiful horses into extraordinary jewelry. For many customers, Fine Fellows' jewelry is a daily companion and after years of wearing it, the jewelry is still very much appreciated. Having happy customers is a great gift this highly detailed work brings.
